I was talking to this girl a few days back. She was the sweetest person you could have possibly met and I liked her instantly. She told me all about her boyfriend and it was obvious that she loved him very much. That day was the last time I saw her for about a week. The next time I saw her she was wearing a bunch of cover up and winced every time she blinked. I tried to speak to her but she just turned away and walked off as fast she could. She walked with a limp.

The next day her boyfriend came to pick her up and when I saw him I knew why she was so timid. The man was a tough man with a sour face. He barked orders at her and didn't seem like the gentle guy she'd told me about. I was concerned. So the next day I spoke with her and she seemed more open to speaking with me. It would days before she would tell me that her boyfriend had hit her and that pushed her over their coffee table.

She never called the cops, never told a another sole. She broke up with him and left. And unfortunately I never saw her again. But it changed my views on abuse. Knowing someone who was put through that made me think. That why next photography project will be surrounding abuse, suicide, drug addiction, alcoholism, and just harm.
